Meet the Author. About the book.
Some stories are too important to keep silent.
Lost in the truth: A Journey to an Authentic Life is the raw, honest account of one man's almost decade-long journey through faith, indoctrination, family war, depression, and the slow, courageous unraveling of everything he was taught to call truth.
Born in Douala, Cameroon, Danillo grew up searching for something deeper, a belief worth sacrificing for. He found it within the Jehovah's Witnesses, a community that promised absolute truth, unconditional belonging, and a clear path to salvation. What he did not anticipate was the price that belonging would demand. From his family, his mind, and ultimately his sense of self.
From the streets of Cameroon to the frozen winters of Canada, this memoir follows one immigrant's pursuit of truth across two continents, two languages, and two entirely different versions of himself. It is a story about what happens when the faith you built your life around begins to crack, and what extraordinary courage it takes to walk through that crack toward the light on the other side.
This book is for the questioners and the quietly brave. For anyone who has ever felt trapped by a belief, a system, or a community that demanded everything and left little room for who you actually are.
You are not alone. And there is a way out.
